Losail International Circuit

Lusail, QatarWIKI

The Losail International Circuit in Qatar joined the Formula 1 calendar in 2021, bringing a high-speed flowing layout that tests car and driver endurance to their limits. This 5.419-kilometer track was originally designed for MotoGP and features a series of medium and high-speed corners that flow seamlessly into each other, creating constant physical demands.

Racing under floodlights in the desert night, the Qatar Grand Prix presents unique challenges. The track's predominantly left-turning nature places extreme stress on right-front tires, and the flowing layout means drivers rarely get a moment to rest. The 2023 race demonstrated extreme tire degradation, with some teams attempting unprecedented 3-stop strategies.

Fernando Alonso's emotional return to the podium in 2021, his first podium finish in seven years, marked an unforgettable moment as the sport returned to the Middle East winter swing. Qatar's commitment to hosting F1 through a 10-year deal ensures the circuit will continue developing its identity.
