Baku City Circuit

Baku, AzerbaijanWIKI

The Baku City Circuit is Formula 1's longest street circuit at 6.003 kilometers, winding through the streets of Azerbaijan's capital along the Caspian Sea coastline and past the medieval Old City. Since its debut in 2016, this track has earned a reputation for chaos, unpredictability, and some of F1's most dramatic finishes.

The circuit features the sport's longest straight at over 2 kilometers, where cars reach 370 km/h before one of the heaviest braking zones in F1. This creates incredible overtaking opportunities and slipstreaming battles. The contrast is stark as the track also threads through the tight castle section, where walls close in and overtaking becomes nearly impossible.

Every Azerbaijan Grand Prix seems to produce headline-grabbing drama: Daniel Ricciardo's stunning 2017 triple overtake into Turn 1, Verstappen's tire blowout from the lead in 2021, and Hamilton's accidental "brake magic" error that same year that gifted victory to Sergio Perez at the final restart.
