Circuit of the Americas

Austin, USAWIKI

The Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, was purpose-built for Formula 1 and has hosted the United States Grand Prix since 2012. This 5.513-kilometer circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke with input from drivers, creating a track that celebrates the best corners from circuits worldwide while carving its own distinct identity.

The signature feature is the dramatic uphill climb to Turn 1, where cars crest a blind rise at 320 km/h before plunging into a left-hander modeled on the multi-apex style of Silverstone's Maggotts-Becketts. The flowing first sector tests aerodynamic efficiency, while the stadium section in the final third provides excellent spectator viewing and overtaking opportunities.

COTA has become a highlight of F1's American expansion, with passionate crowds and a festival atmosphere. Lewis Hamilton has dominated here with six victories, including his 2015 title-sealing win. Kimi Räikkönen's emotional 2018 victory, his last in F1, cemented the circuit's place in the sport's history.
